Red Kite at Gigrin Feeding Centre in Rhayader, Mid Wales

The Gigrin Red Kite Feeding Centre in Rhayader is open daily, all year round. Red Kites can be seen in this area throughout the year and are seen daily flying over Gwynfan. This area is a birdwatchers dream with resident Falcons, Ravens, Buzzards and Peregrine.

Carngalfft in the Elan Valley is a reserve kept by the RSPB. Tree Pipits, Redstarts and Whinchats are seen here during the summer months. This is a vast area of moorlands, wetlands, woodlands and hedgerows with many wild flowers.

National Cycle Route 8 runs from North Wales (Anglesey) on route to the Bristol Channel.

National Cycle Route 81 runs from Aberystwyth through to the border town of Shrewsbury. Both these cycle routes runs or passes through either the town of Rhayader or the Elan Valley.
